Mitsubishi Fuso Truck of America has introduced the new Fuso FE Class 4 and Class 5 trucks to the North American market, fitted as standard with an Allison Transmission automatic.
The new 2019 Class 4 trucks unveiled at the 2018 Work Truck Show in Indianapolis come standard with a 6-litre, 8-cylinder PSI-GM V-twin petrol engine and Allison 1000 Series fully automatic transmission with fuel-saving package FuelSense 2.0 and DynActive shift technology.
With Allison, Fuso will become the first cabover truck manufacturer to offer models equipped with a powerful transmission for commercial vehicles in the 4th and 5th class vehicle segment.
This gearbox was designed from scratch specifically for installation on commercial trucks.
At the request of the customer, it can be equipped with a power take-off mechanism, due to which it is possible to equip with additional equipment, such as a body lifting mechanism or distributing pumps.
The Allison automatic transmission is also equipped with the Fuel Sense 2.0 fuel-saving package and DynActive shift technology.
Instead of shifting based on a fixed-point data table, DynActive technology continuously improves the shifting process by applying a specific algorithm to achieve the best balance between performance and fuel economy for every work cycle.
This Allison technology improves vehicle fuel efficiency by 2-6%. In addition, the Fuel Sense 2.0 package includes a Neutral at Stop option for additional fuel savings.
Initially, the PSI-GM V-8 petrol engine and Allison transmission will power three Mitsubishi Fuso Class 4 truck models: FE140 (GVW 6,580 kg), FE160 (GVW 7,255 kg) and FE160 with double cab (GVW 7,255 kg).
After some time, this combination will also appear on the Mitsubishi Fuso FE180 truck of the 5th class (gross weight is 8,160 kg).
This model will be the first cabover truck in the 5th class with a gasoline engine.
Mitsubishi also produces forklift trucks.
